Metronome Prague 2022 Adds Another Star: Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds
We’re pleased to announce that Nick Cave and The Bad Seeds, one of the world’s biggest music stars with fans spanning from the most hardcore aficionados of alternative genres to mainstream music lovers, will be one of the headliners of the fifth edition of Metronome Prague 2022 to take place June 23-26, 2022, at its traditional venue: Prague’s Výstaviště exhibition ground. Nick Cave joins a line-up that already includes British indie-pop duo Oh Wonder and American singer-songwriter Beck. Tickets can be purchased on the official website of the music event www.metronome.cz.
Nick Cave is known around the world, and his fanbase in the Czech Republic is exceptionally large. He made appearances in the country since the early 1990s, beginning with sold out shows in Prague’s Lucerna hall in 1992 and 1993, which those who attended recall as a “massive 90s party.” Cave himself was enveloped by the bohemian atmosphere of the Czech capital at the time and his 1994 album Let Love In includes the song Thirsty Dog that was directly inspired by the Prague pub Žíznivý pes.
Nick Cave, 63, comes from an artistic Australian family, and he has been interested in literature and the visual arts since childhood, later spreading to music. That interest grew once he met his long-term collaborator Mick Harvey in a secondary school band called The Boys Next Door where he wrote his first songs and recorded his first tracks. The band moved to England in 1980 and changed its name to The Birthday Party, launching a relatively short but intensive creative period for Nick Cave that left its mark on postpunk musical history with its intimate nature and seminal influences.
