Mike Skinner, the man behind The Streets, is a master of words. With that unmistakable British dry wit, he raps not only about his life’s ups and downs, but also weaves together punchy, melancholic, humorous, and ironic lyrics, all underpinned by production that pulls in the best elements of UK garage, hip-hop, indie rock, and even reggae.

Skinner paints vivid portraits of modern life, blending everyday frustrations, desires, and unexpected moments of joy into every line, each word charged with a longing to reflect the world around him.

Between 2002 and 2011, The Streets released five successful albums before taking a hiatus, only to delight fans with a comeback after six years—remaining active ever since.
